Paragon A Science Fiction Romance Novel eBook Aubrey Watt
Is Alan a man or a machine? The question is asked many times throughout the story. The question is more pronounced in the beginning when Alan has the body of a man but the intelligence of an infant, but the question seems just as important at the end of the story. By the end of the story, I didn't care. We're all creatures that react to stimuli, and if Alan was given programming instructions, even ones that regular humans aren't given, he still reacts as a human would.
The most touching scenes in this story aren't part of the romance, but in fact are his early moments of consciousness. The first time he awakens, Aubrey introduces a crisis that is solved in a way that will have all parents fondly remembering the early days of their baby's infancy. I teared up a little at the beauty of it, and it was only the beginning of a beautiful relationship.
I don't think it's too much to ask for a sequel to this book, as the author described the world in great detail, both its history and current events. Alan still has a lot of growing to do, and I look forward to reading more stories about his growth.

Paragon A Science Fiction Romance Novel eBook Aubrey Watt Reviews
I didn't know what to expect when I picked this up. I thought it would be more like AI. But Aubrey Watt has crafted a beautiful and touching story about a brilliant and worldly female scientist who develops feelings for her 'creation', the handsome sentient Artificial Intelligence, Alan, who is packaged in a human shell.
Most touching are Chal's and Alan's interactions together, and I had to hold my breath many times at the tenderness of their scenes. The book is extremely well-researched as well, with a lot of scientific theories behind it which do make a lot of sense.
Pick this up, you won't regret it.
Enjoyed the new approach to an A.I. story but was left wanting more. The story line needs development. This could grow into a great series.
I liked that this book was not only a very good romance novel, but it prodded at the boundary of what defines humanity, and who and what can 'feel.' This novel was a pleasant surprise and a lot better than I had originally thought it would be.
Loved the theory underpinning the creation of artificial life,it is presented in a believable way, with credible language and points out toward a near future with a lot of ethical, legal, social and anthropological questions and quandaries that must be pondered carefully.
The author manages to weave the philosophical assertions of Locke and Descartes throughout the premise and logical conclusions that serve as the basis for her insight into eugenics that are just around the corner.

I actually got more into the sci-fi aspect of this more than the romance. Not that the romance was bad (the way Chal was written, of course she fell for Alan), it was just the world created was very interesting. I enjoyed the mental tangents Chal went on, and her recounting of how the world had changed. A great read, and the romance aspect of it was really sweet.
I was pleasantly surprised by this story as I wasn't quite sure what to expect, but the sample pulled me in and I bought it. The story is a lovely science fiction romance that ponders the ethical conundrums of artificial intelligence. Chal finds herself drawn into a government project creating 'sentient man-like beings'. While the government thinks nothing of killing off its experiments, Chal feels otherwise and a fast paced romantic adventure ensues.
If you like romance mixed with science, you'll enjoy this story. It reminded me of Clive Cussler on the action/adventure and science fronts, but with the traditional romance plot that Cussler's work lacks.
Highly recommend.
