Apparition Lake Daniel D Lamoreux Doug Lamoreux Books
I'll be honest, I pushed the wrong button and bought this book by accident. Turns out it was a happy accident. I grew up in southeast Idaho and am familiar with Yellowstone. My husband is Native American. My father- in-law wrote a book on the fires of Yellowstone, Scorched Earth. This book spoke to me on many levels. I loved reading about a place I am familiar with and the Native American angle of this story. It was respectful of that culture. Snow on the Mountains was a great character. I am looking forward to reading more of your stories.

Apparition Lake Daniel D Lamoreux Doug Lamoreux Books Reviews
The authors had a great outline for the book, giving the in-depth story of Silverbear, one of the main characters. Unfortunately, as the book really started gaining traction the writers were unable to live up to the storyline. Readers were left hanging in places, with what felt like unfinished storylines and characters. This book was semi disappointing and some of the characters, it seemed, were overly exaggerated. The main character, Glenn, the head park ranger came across stupid, undeveloped and inconsistent. He was coming and going at the same time, but truly going nowhere. I hope book 2, Obsidian Tears, will be a better read, with better character and storyline development.
I started this book not knowing it was a horror book. I love reading about nature, wildlife, Indians, as I have Ojibwa in my background. I loved the Yellowstone setting, having been there and enjoyed it very much. On the trip throughout that particular journey through British Colimbia, Jackson Hole , Wyoming, Glacier Park, MT, we saw three grizzlies, several black bear, goats, elk galore, bison among countless other animals. Heard many exciting stories, rode up on a glacier, rode in sky high rails from mountain to mountain. I had no idea this book was about Indian folklore, their ancient beliefs concerning Mother Earth. The horror taking place among the Yellowstone tourists and residents was electrifying, shocking. I was not sure if some of the story was factual or not, thinking if I would ever want to visit Yellowstone again or not, wondering if I could ever feel comfortable being there.
My better feelings told me this must be just a good piece of fiction yet I kept wondering if some of it was coming from fact...which made the story even more exciting. The cub scouts roaming in the park had me anxious for thrir safety ... and I am not certain I ever did learm what happened to the little lost scout or if he was found alive and safe. I was hoping for some romance between the female bear expert and the handsome park supervisor. I found the characters, both good and bad, interesting. It was certainly a page turner, gripping, terrorizing story. The surroundings breathtaking, some spooky, some bustling with excitement, some deathly quiet and nerve wracking. All in all a great learning story . I liked it and would recommend it for those who like adventure with some terrorizing mystery. CLB
A great blend of mystery, and a touch of horror teamed up with Native American legends and history. Well put together,,it brings the reader into the world of animal poaching with a twist of supernatural vengeance. Kept me reading past my bedtime-I didn't want to put it down.
This book has been out for quite a while and I have had it in kindle for quite some time. I don't read a lot of "horror" stories and believing that was what this was I put it into a secondary position in my reading queue. Having read the book I wish I had gotten it into queue long months ago. I have looked at the reviews of quite a few as well as reading the book. I find it difficult to understand how anyone can troll the book with a one or two star rating. It has great characters. It has a great story line. It has a unique backward and forward (in time) outlook. The viewpoint is clear to me. The story grows in intensity to a crashing crescendo at the ending. These are all really good traits of any book in my eyes and the result is I rate the book as a five star read. Enjoy. I did!
Mother Nature strikes back, unleashing a man killing grizzly on the unsuspecting people who venture into Yellowstone National Park. Glenn Merrill, Chief Park Ranger, vows to catch and stop the rogue bear. but more people die and signs point to something else, something mystical, that stretches the ranger’s beliefs. It may take more than bullets to stop the bear, and it might just be coming after Glenn.
The cover for this book fits the story perfectly. And that bear is terrifying. I can’t think of many things more terrifying to be eaten by except maybe a shark.
I enjoyed the Indian mysticism aspect of the book. Their connection to Mother Earth is deeply ingrained in their beliefs and it sure lends to the mystery, which I found fascinating.
I expected this to be a bit gory and would have been disappointed if it wasn’t. It’s also oozing with creepy atmosphere. I liken it to walking down a dimly lit empty street, shrouded by moist fog. What lurks in the shadows. I couldn’t wait to see what happened next and also worried about what would happen next.
The characters read genuine, flaws and all, and the bear is something else. Loved this book and it would be such a great movie.
Anyone who loves a good mystery with bits of horror will enjoy this one. I recommend you give it a read.
