Alien Embrace eBook Donna Steele

Everyone he had known must have cried out at once. There had been nowhere to run. He had no idea what had exploded or what could have caused the destruction. That didn't matter now. The flames had raced through the narrow corridors, killing everyone inits path by smoke if not flames. How could everything have gone so wrong? They'd had such high technology. He knew the answers, the out-of-control population. He had only known shortages until he came here. There was still guilt at every meal he ate. Now his home was a burnt-out shell. The structure remained, damaged, probably collapsed in places, but uninhabitable. And all done to themselves.

As Lori comes out of a coma she finds that she has no memory of her life. The purse that had been found with her contained only a comb, wallet and cell phone. Her address meant nothing to her and she couldn't visualize her home at all. Then she met Dr. Marcus Greene, the doctor called in to consult due to her amnesia. She knew she had never met hem but there was something familiar about this handsome man standing before her. Mark was in a long relationship with Cynthia but after meeting Lori he couldn't get her out of his mind. This is a woman that has stolen his complete being - mind, soul, and body. But getting to know her, where she really came from and why she is here may change those feelings completely, or could it bring them closer? You see, Lori isn't from here and Mark will have to accept that fact or walk away from her. What will he do and is she the only one like her out there? Maybe not. Does he even believe in Aliens? Maybe he better start believing.

I fell in love with this book from page one. Author Donna Steele writes in a way that allows you to 'feel' each character. You feel their pain, their joy, their love and you can't get enough of them. I'm really hoping this is the beginning of many more books in what would make a great series. When I read this book I couldn't help but remember the series of books written by John Jakes. This book has so many stem offs as well as connections that would make it a great set of books to read and who knows, maybe into a TV series.

If you like a bit of the known and a lot of love, you can't help but love this book. On a scale of 1-5 stars I would give this one 7 stars!

Alien Embrace eBook Donna Steele Reviews

Like the best science fiction, Alien Embrace thoroughly exercises the mind with a thought provoking tale of an alien race of humanoids wishing to seed itself on the Earth. Born on a planet overpopulated to the point of extinction, Lori is sent to Earth to educate humans in sound ecological practices and help them avoid destroying their own home world. The problem is those who planned her mission, also wiped her memory.
She wakes up in a New York hospital strangely, terribly alone with total amnesia and only the handsome psychiatrist assigned to her case seems able reach her.
Dr Mark Grant doesn't know what has caused Lori's amnesia, but never in his life has he been able to feel someone else's emotions simply by touching them. When her memory returns, Lori realizes there's much more to her mission than she was told, and now she needs Mark even more than ever.
Though it is a love story, Alien Embrace doesn't follow the classic romance plot structure. I think it is most fairly judged by its success as a sci-fi novel. By those standards it succeeds very well. The characters are believably motivated, though I would have preferred a quirk here or there to make them less predictable. The alien race Steele has created might look human, but they don't think and feel as humans do, and Steele manages to keep them internally consistent all the way through the story. There are enough surprises to keep the story rolling and flashes of humor for leavening. Above all there's plenty of the intellectual stimulation that is the reason I read science fiction.
I was immediately swept into a world where the main character could not recognize anything, and I wanted to know what would happen. Suffering amnesia, Lori meets a doctor who is immediately attracted to her. Once released from the hospital, she enters her home. However, everything is unfamiliar and the job she is supposed to have worked at sounds strange. She hopes her memory returns, while Dr. Mark Green fights the growing attraction. Once her memories flash into being, and Mark tries to understand she is not an 'earthling', they soon search for others from her doomed planet. Though this is considered Sci-Fi, the romance was wonderful to watch grow.
Alien Embrace by author Donna Steele has a new take on contemporary romance. Lori is actually from a world that is dying. They send her to Earth in hopes of keeping the memory of their people alive. That is her chosen destiny. Well once she gets here, she has to relearn who she is and pieces of her memory come back a little at a time.
Dr. Marcus Green or Mark he is assigned to help her with her memory problems. Being a psychiatrist he has done this many times. He is good at his job and loves it. Lori calls to something inside him. Makes him want more than just to help her. He wants her as his own.
As this story goes on the more they fall in love. I liked exploring the layers in this story. Both characters are funny, quirky, and good hearted. I wanted the happy ending. I wished this book was part of a series I can see potential for much more than just this one story. When you want a love story with a twist this is the one to pick up. I am very glad I did.

I love it! I only wish it had a sequel.
Another fine story from Donna. Always loved her stories.
In Alien Embrace, Ms. Steele gives us a dire warning from extraterrestrials on what our planet can expect if we continue to strain the earth's resources due to overpopulation. They should know, they ruined their own planet for the same reason.
I like the fact that Ms. Steele's aliens aren't here to conquer but to teach. I also like the fact that they intend to preserve their own heritage by mating with humans and giving their children their alien memories.
If you've read Ms. Steele's Melting series, you begin to see a pattern in her fiction, a science pattern that comes pretty darn and uncomfortably close to the truth.
